How to Develop a Positive Personality?
What is a Positive Personality?
Positive people have a significant impact on their success and happiness in life. All people are not born naturally positive and optimistic. However, they can be more positive and optimistic throughout their life for achieving success and happiness. Negativity is itself a distractive form to the people for their success and happiness. People must demolish negative thoughts in their state of mind. People with negative personalities can not become successful, they rather influence negativity that affects their relationships, profession, and mental well-being. Therefore, people must have a positive personality that makes their life happy and successful. According to Collins English Dictionary: “If you are positive about things, you are hopeful and confident, and think of the good aspects of a situation rather than the bad ones.” Positive personalities have significant virtues, including but not limited to self-aware, joyfulness, self-confidence, honesty, positive behavior, positive traits, and compassion. Positive people encourage others to be positive personalities instead of negative traits. People with positive personalities always pay attention to the good life and prosperity of others. Their high degree of self-confidence helps them grow in their every business to be successful. Positive traits are experienced by everyone. You can visualize yourself as a positive personality and identify what types of traits you follow to work on. Being a positive personality you describe yourself as warm, loving, sincere, empathetic, nurturing, and so on.
According to Brain Tracy, “Your mind is like a garden. If you do not deliberately plant flowers and tend them carefully, weeds will grow without any encouragement at all.” To be a positive personality we have to keep our bodies healthy and have to feed our minds with positive thoughts to develop a more positive and constructive personality. If you are a positive person you can easily eliminate negative thoughts. Mental and physical fitness both are important in that you won’t see results overnight. You can develop a positive mindset including strength and resilience through practice and training. People have a powerful ability to turn their negative self-talk into positive self-talk as having been more compassionate to the valuable person in their life. You can supplement your mind with positive personality traits and spread positivity where you are or wherever you go.
Ways to Develop a Positive Personality?
Positive traits influence someone to become an inspiring leader, empathetic parent, and thoughtful friend. The positive traits can help leverage strengths and improve weaknesses. Don’t be late to improve your personality. You can become a better version of yourself in your every business and the rest of your life. Here are some steps to build a positive personality, let’s look at them below.
I. Accept Responsibility
People often don’t accept responsibility, instead, they blame their parents, teachers, Gods, fate, luck, or even the stars. Johnny said ” Mama, Jimmy broke the window.” Mama asked. ” How did he do it?” Johnny replied. ” I threw a stone at him and he ducked.” People who use their privileges without accepting responsibility usually end up losing them. (We can win, Siva Kheda). Responsibility is not only an action it involves thoughts and determination toward action. Tinny minds are often busy passing the buck rather than performing what has to be done. Our society is not ruined by the activities of mischievous but by the inactivity of intelligent people. If they can perceive it, as being inactive, how can they be good? How can they be intelligent? Are they foolish or mad? No, they are intelligent. But why doesn’t make sense to accept responsibility? The questions are asked, who always tolerates them instead of accepting responsibility? That’s why responsibility is the major thing that can only change negative things into positive like progress and prosperity.
II. Consideration
Consideration is your ability that you can show everywhere and every now and then. It consists of courtesy, politeness, and sincerity. It is not forgiveness. It is your quality. It shows your personality. Your personality traits become positive with consideration. To develop your positive personality, you can stop the blame game, avoid phrases such as everyone else does it or no one does it or it is all your fault or it is not my fault. You can practice avoiding criticism of others. Criticism of others creates a paradox. You can stop judging. Nobody is an open book. You can deal with people very courteously and politely without any expectations. Your positive attitude makes your life very easier and more successful.
III. Think Win-Win
Think win-win is one’s own code and conduct for human interaction and collaboration. It is not a tangible manifest, it is based on thoughts and traits that are present as human characters. Think win-win is the precious quality of human beings. It always looks at life as a comparative arena, not a competitive one. It always seeks mutual benefits in between all human interactions. To this, agreements or resolutions are mutually beneficial. Both parties are winners, not a loser. Win-win thinking makes people not only empathic but confident. It does not only encourage us to be considerate and sensitive but to be brave. Actually, the balance between courage and consideration is fundamental to win-win thinking. There is no anyone winner or loser but the people are mutually benefited and satisfied.
IV. Choose Words Carefully
Don’t do excessive talk, it does not mean communication. A good person talks less: and says more. We must think before speaking. Only fool speaks without thinking. We must be tactful. Tact means choosing one’s word carefully and knowing how far to go. It is a consciousness of knowing what to say and what to leave unsaid. We must be careful in choosing words. Spoken words can’t be retrieved. Your words reflect your attitude. Speaking words can hurt feeling and destroy relationships. Improper words can hurt people. The way of speaking to your children in many cases shapes your children’s destiny. Therefore, we must pay attention to choosing words carefully.
V. Don’t Criticize and Complain
When we criticize, that definitely goes to negative criticism. A person who is criticized becomes defensive. The question is raised, should we never criticize, or can we criticize in positive ways? Does constructive criticism help people or not? The right to criticize comes up with the desire to help. When we criticize the person we hurt their self-esteem. So, we can criticize the behavior, not the person. In terms of giving criticism, we never forget that criticism is in private not in public. Private criticism maintains goodwill whereas public criticism can be humiliating. Another major thing to understand is that we can criticize the performance, not the performer. Likewise, we never show personal resentment while criticizing. Constructive criticism helps to correct attitudes rather than punitive ones. Similarly, we do not be chronic complainer. A chronic complainer sees that everything goes bad even if it goes right. Complain is needed but it should be constructive. Constructive complaints can be very useful that are to be given in positive ways.
VI. Smile and Be Pleasant
A smile gives happiness in the home and in the workplace. It is the countersign of friendship. It costs nothing. It does not impoverish those who give it. It may last forever as a sweet memory. It is also a medicine to the weary. It yields positivity and amicability in your personal or professional business. It can not be stolen, bagged, bought, or borrowed. You are responsible, how much you can give? How much you give it, you will be a better person. A smile is one of the most important traits of a positive personality.
VII. Positive Interpretation of Other People’s Behavior
We never put negative interpretations on others’ actions or inactions without sufficient facts. We can build a pleasing personality resulting in good relationships. Stephen Covey says it best when he notes: “We judge ourselves by our intentions. And others by their actions.” People jump to negative conclusions rather than facts. Most respectful interpretation changes how you see others and how they behave toward you. We should consider the situation. Any of the situations that happened around you results in a feeling of pleasure, happiness, anger, or frustration. A positive person concludes and regards a situation with positive conclusions, not with negative conclusions. However, feelings of anger and frustration can be experienced when faced with the situation. But the appropriate response can tarnish these negative feelings of anger or frustration. The pioneering work of Horald Kelley suggested that people are trying to figure out the causes of other people’s behavior. In some situations, there is no point to figure out. When people engage in behaviors that everyone does, then we can just appeal to a social norm to explain behavior. A big part of a positive personality is recognizing and overriding our default reactions and responses to situations.
